Barbara specializes in the North Central Phoenix area. A resident of more than forty years, she knows it well. It is her passion to connect people and homes, whether she is representing the seller or the buyer — and with the rest of the team carrying the administrative end, her working hours go directly to her clients.

She is also the team’s historian. Since 2016 she has written the history and architecture column in the quarterly newsletter, and the range of it tells you something about how she looks at a house: Phoenix’s thirty-five historic districts, the Homestead Act of 1862, the Sears kit houses that arrived by boxcar, the Salt River Project canals that still flood-irrigate central Phoenix lawns at two in the morning, and the English property “chain” that makes an Arizona contingency look simple.

Barbara and her husband have owned seven homes in the Phoenix area. They live in north central Phoenix, in a development built in 1967 on the grounds of a 1927 winter estate and designed by the Arizona architect Bennie Gonzales. She will tell you, from experience, that a historic home comes with a larger lot, mature landscaping, easy access to downtown, and old plumbing and wiring — and that in a city with far fewer historic homes than others its size, that trade has generally been worth making.
