Over the decades, millions of articles have been written about how to buy a house. Many of these articles are excellent. Many are not. Why would I consider writing another?
Fair question. Well for one thing, not all these articles are State specific, such as Arizona, and therefore leave far too much out of the picture. Arizona real estate is truly unique in the way business is done here, and I do mean in a good way! We are on top of the game when it comes to consumer disclosures and ethics.
For another, many books are written from authors who are not Realtors, or are not very active in the industry so they lack a day to day perspective of what REALLY happens. “In the Trenches” not only draws on my 37+ years of residential real estate experience, but I will also include experiences from other industry comrades as well.
The book also just focuses on buying a home (emphasis on “home”), not commercial, multi-residential or industrial property. They are different animals to be sure and residential real estate is in a league by itself. A friend of mine began working with me a few years back and started out quite well working with buyers until he realized that there’s far too much emotion and drama in the deal. He has now opted for other real estate endeavors outside of working with home buyers. It’s truly not for everyone and I’ve often asked myself the same question after particularly stressful scenarios. You definitely need to be a people person.
